Top businesses across the globe are leveraging the power of Office 365 services that help connect employees, teams, and organizations efficiently. Being a Microsoft Partner, we at Computer Solutions East put our best to update the organization with modern tools and take Microsoft to deeper realms of organizations. We couldn’t think of any better solution for our client International Union of Elevator Constructors than Microsoft Modern Workplace for Frontline Workers. Piloting their existing phone system and enabling full utilization of Yammer, Skype for Business, and Teams means offering them with unmatched efficiency and great powers to a team of frontline workers.
We were thrilled to take Microsoft’s vision forward when it comes to enabling front line workers with the capabilities of Office 365 Enterprise that blends SharePoint Online, Office Online, OneDrive for Business, and now, Microsoft Teams. With this client being a team of elevator constructors, the process refinement needed to be prerogative with access to the right tools to the right people. We made progress with the conviction to offer simplified collaboration, create a remote workplace connection, and blend in the current phone system smartly with the powerful tools.
Modernizing the Frontline Workers Communication
The requirement was to run a parallel communication over Microsoft Teams on desktops and mobile phones. Their phone lines were intact, and there was no need to recoup the channels except for two key users. We configured the voicemail for more than 20 users with this client who forms a critical part of the modern phone system. With our Microsoft Teams implementation, we ensured managers, workers, and supervisors connect and work together in real-time with chat, and also leverage the secured conference calls. Simplifying a sophisticated frontline IT systems means ensuring quick communication for corporate announcements and information amongst the Firstline workers with confidence. We enabled is that their Frontline working can now also use various tools for actionable alerts, video broadcasts, and targeted messaging.
For instance, our team took up Yammer and its sister tools that were somewhat organic and rapid in this instance. To further modernize the frontline workers’ communication, we took things a step further to help capitalize on each Microsoft platform frontline workers for the organization and the employees blending the benefits of their amassed expertise and experience. Enabling these advanced Office 365 features for the Frontline empowers them with a more reliable tool for better connectivity and plays a crucial role in keeping teams and individuals closer.
Pivoting organization to leverage untapped resources
We started by piloting specific users from this tenant, where it began with auditing the phone system. On a longer run, we processed the verification on the sideline and provided users with a phone system. We deployed them the physical phone devices to help begin the pilot project while in the sidelines, we started the MS Teams implementation for more than 25 users. It wasn’t a pleasant journey for our technicians as they overcame a major roadblock of firmware mismatch. There were issues with configuring voicemail as their physical phones had bugs from the previous firmware. But since our teamwork deeper for cause-identification, we kept physical phones at the place and integrated new firmware with on their old phones that blend with the Teams as well.
Next up, we provided them with the custom solution for Teams thanks to its open-source API as we redefined their mobile devices as well. Since most of the Firstline workers are out of the office, they need to be given a robust phone system that makes them accessible even on the field. For this purpose, we had to expand the scope of applying Microsoft Teams as we used the protocol of Parking a Call. We trained the in-house operators to have them park the call and let the workers pick up the call on their Teams-integrated mobile devices. Our primary goal was to have them get used to the technology, so our training staff was on the heels during the initial implementation phase. It enables Firstline workers to stay remotely connected with the office through Microsoft office as well as stay seamlessly available on the field with necessary information.
The Modern Workplace Impact
It is how we provided them with the device flexibility and made them more robust that drives 100 percent efficiency. Since we deployed Teams in their phone system, we enabled leveraging Teams and Channel for secured collaboration and meeting. Sharing files with external users will require top security. Therefore, we helped this client manage data collaboration when shared with anyone outside of the organization to help them stay compliant.
Many of these users also moved to enterprise licensing, enabling them to leverage SharePoint as the backbone for everything. It helped them use OneDrive more efficiently by assigning tasks on teams and collaborating effectively on different Microsoft platforms. We provided them with the training for exchange and how Teams are connected to SharePoint and OneDrive.
Moving away from their losing carriers and migrating to Teams offered their business and the unmatched dynamism across using multiple devices as Teams ensures that they are logged in timely and never miss out on any call.
Faster Turnaround during a Security Snag
During the process, when we were moving their services to Cloud, the client servers experienced the ransomware attacks. Fortunately, we covered the ground beforehand, having migrated the servers to Azure, and this helped us fetch the best backup from the previous date. From that standpoint, we helped to prevent complete data loss. The ransomware left a few users exposed, leading to account breach and therefore applied azure conditional access to enhance the security. We configured it by moving their virtual machines the over to Azure smoothly without any bottlenecks. Since the client was using an out of date security firewall on-premise, we had to come with a solution like Meraki to establish a connection from their on-premise offices to Cloud.
